所有进入澳大利亚的宠物都必须遵守隔离管理条例，并要事先得到澳大利亚的入境许可证。除了来自新西兰和椰子群岛的宠物外，其它国家的宠物入境按规定要分别隔离不同时间：来自英国或爱尔兰共和国的宠物要隔离两个月；来自挪威、瑞典或夏威夷的宠物要隔离4个月；来自其它允许入境国家的宠物要隔离9个月；来自未得到入境许可国家的宠物必须在得到入境许可的国家（通常是英国或夏威夷）生活30天，再按从该国进入澳大利亚所必备的手续携宠物入境。
需要指出的是，目前我国仍不是澳大利亚、新西兰，甚至我国的台湾地区允许直接入境的国家，当您需要带您的宠物入境以上国家时，您需要在第三地停留至少6个月时间方能入境。
（1）健康证书
只有离境前48小时内发给的健康证书才有效。证书由兽医签发，上面注明（该兽医必须是负责发放出境证书的有关部门所认可的代理人）该宠物没有患任何传染病、细菌病以及狂犬病。
（2）狂犬病的免疫注射证
这里要提的是，在一个消灭了狂犬病的国家（如英国、 爱尔兰、澳大利亚等国）生活了6个月后再进入其它国家的宠物，则可以不必具备此证书。然而，出于对宠物的爱护，以及到达目的地时，让海关确信该宠物符合检疫要求，最好还是让宠物注射狂犬病疫苗。
（3）出境证书
从本国登记注册宠物的有关部门领取有效的出境证书。证书上要写明在过去两年里，该宠物居住地无传染病流行。按法律规定，传染性疾病是要上报该国有关部门的。出境证书由所在国家的主管部门签发，符合规定的，一踏上要侨居的国家，这张证书上就会盖上认可的印章。
（4）狂犬抗体测试
由于我国属于欧盟国家认定的狂犬病疫区，因此在以上三之上，我们国家入境欧洲还需要采集宠物身上的血清到欧洲指定的实验室进行检测，检测合格，并采集血清3个月后方能入境。
（5）隔离观察
所有宠物都必须在认可的隔离区完全隔离观察6个月。如果尚未接种狂犬病疫苗，则宠物一进入隔离区，就必须打狂犬病防疫针。所有要进入澳大利亚、新西兰的宠物都必须事先申请入境证，该证书由农业部颁发。以下是澳大利亚官方网站上的文本。详细资料你还可以登入我公司英文网站http://www.pettour.org上进行查询。
AVAILABILITY OF SPACE FOR CATS AND DOGS AT THE ANIMAL QUARANTINE STATIONS
An import permit does not guarantee a space at an animal quarantine station.
BOOKINGS MUST BE MADE FOR CATS AND DOGS.
To book a space at an Australian animal quarantine station, a valid import permit number is required.Once an import permit has been issued, contact the relevant animal quarantine station directly to make a reservation for the animal with the valid import permit number.
Provision of an airway bill number supplied directly to the animal quarantine station will be required to confirm the reservation closer to the animal's date of departure.
Cats and dogs entering Australia must meet all of the AQIS import conditions prior to export. This is to ensure no exotic diseases are introduced into Australia. Australia is free from many animal-related diseases found in other parts of the world.
If you wish to import a cat or dog into Australia, you need to apply for an AQIS import permit via the Live Animal Imports Program. AQIS officers will assess theapplication and—provided that the animal meets the import permit requirements—grant an import permit.
An import permit is required to book a space at an AQIS post-arrival animal quarantine station. There are three post-arrival animal quarantine stations for cats and dogs in Australia: Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Different import conditions apply for the importation of disability assistance dogs.
Import conditions applicable for pets other than cats and dogs.
