The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA) is responsible for food safety and health from farm to fork.
The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA) is part of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries. Administration, development, co-ordination and the formation of rules and regulations take place in the head office of the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration in Mørkhøj near Copenhagen.
A Meat Inspection Unit is part of the head office, but placed in Vejle in the eastern part of Jutland.
Food control and veterinary inspection are handled by two regional veterinary and food administration centres. They are placed in Arhus, the second largest city in Denmark and in Ringsted, located in the central part of Sealand.
The regional veterinary and food administration are independent authorities under the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and are in charge of the Veterinary and Food Administration's direct contact to consumers, enterprises, veterinarians and livestock owners within the centre's region.
DVFA has approximately 1870 employees.
